The Employment Standards Act allows employers to terminate employees with cause, and without cause.
Even though the vast majority of terminations are categorized by the courts to be without cause, with cause terminations are justified when there is a serious of trust, theft, fraud, and other incidents that give rise to irreparable work relations.
It is always good and safe practice to consult with a lawyer before terminating an employee.
